"Speech Of Truth Will Be Eternal" is a limited to 1000 copies ‘best of / introduction to’ that was released on the Topheth Prophet label in Israel to celebrate a concert planned by Der Blutharsch there which, as these things normally plan out, got cancelled in the end. I know all this because there was a copy going for sale, under a different title, on E.Bay. I didn’t bid for it then because I already owned all the official studio recordings and this CD would have been an extravagant extra which I wasn’t prepared to shell out over the top money on. As it was the bloody CD went for a pittance. Doh!! Being a numero uno fuckwit I then found this CD elsewhere, not doing any research as is my want, and duly bought it not realising it was the same ‘best of / introduction to’ that was on E.Bay. So here I am ending up with a CD that I really didn’t want or need in the first place. My life is always like this.

Albin Julius, Der Blutharsch main honcho, was a member of the cult, now sadly defunct, The Moon Lay Beneath A Cloud and has also recorded with Death In June. Albin also has a great sense of humour. He never lists the song titles in any of the Der Blutharsch recordings. Funny guy. In fact the only place you’ll find any song titles is on the mega limited Fire Danger Season re-mix / compilation release and a book from some East European country which listed and named all the tracks. I could, I suppose, sit down and listen to all the tracks from all the six releases and work out where any of the thirteen tracks on here appeared. But I can’t be arsed. Time is far too short for that endeavour. Best let the music speak for itself then.

If you like apocalyptic neo-folk crossed with marching military music with a touch of classical bombast in a sexy way then this will be right up your street. All of the Der Blutharsch recordings have contained a mixture of gently strummed and sung songs of love, lust, melancholy and sadness and huge pieces of overblown orchestral drum pounding / foot tapping pieces with obligatory obscure added samples and hushed / shouted vocals in English and German. It is, and still remains, a unique sound that Albin has defined and refined as his own. Many have tried to copy this formula but none have managed to capture the intensity that a Der Blutharsch recording creates. "Speech Of Truth Will Be Eternal" carries on this tradition with a mix of tracks that covers the many facets of the Der Blutharsch sound and is a excellent starting point for those who may have heard the name before but haven’t yet got round to sampling the Der Blutharsch experience for themselves.

I’m actually glad I bought this. The tracks have been so meticulously chosen that it’s a pure joy to listen to. Sometimes being a fuckwit has its advantages.
