This is the fifth double album in the line of ten compiling Allerseelen releases on vinyl with bonus tracks, four of which feature on the first side of the album. This palingenesis from Ahnstern provides more than two hours of listening pleasure for those seeking the sold out "Gotos=Kalanda" CD released in 1995 on Aorta with the added benefit of being digitally remastered in 2005 for this especial release. Newly
recorded in 2005, the four Side A tracks invoke German military pop with
gusto and verve, the aggregation of swells of violin with distressed industrial
rhythms with anthemic lyrics thrust vigorously - these innovative recordings
would find familiar stage with Der Blutharsch. Sides B through D cover
all twelve tracks of the original recording, tweaked after ten-year tenure,
tracks dedicated to the glory of the twelve months with recitation of
verse from the German poet, Karl Wiligut, by Kadmon. These tracks are
cinerary uproars of avant-garde industrialism with temblors of drum machines
puncturing most tracks amid vagaries of organic samples like flamenco
guitar, oscillating feedback, the ululations of frogs. The music, as with
most Allerseelen works, is recondite, darkly phantasmagoric steeping itself
in insidious noise with the monotone of Kadmon's discourse that briefly
breaks into song with a few tracks. Martial aspects as presented in the
fresh tracks surface amidst the "Gotos=Kalanda" original tracks
linking the old with the new, despite the heavier distortion and acidulent
percussion, though for the most part Side A is without the more numinous
and abstract quality of the 1995 album. |
